First Folder

Your first folder is a review pass, not a blind automation run. Treat the first scan as evidence-gathering: see what MetaTana found, fix the wrong matches before they propagate, and only then write to disk.

For the click-by-click version See Add your first folder. That recipe walks the actual workflow with screenshots. This page is the short conceptual companion.

The short version

Sign in, make metadata ready, add one folder (or one exact file on desktop), scan, then review the matches before you let MetaTana write anything to disk. Add Your First File Or Folder has the exact steps, including how folder watching and exact-file drops behave.

Start with one folder, not five. Fewer is easier to check. Add destinations and routing rules on Folders only after the metadata is right; doing it the other way around is hard to undo.

What "clean enough" looks like before adding destinations

  • Library items are identified correctly (right title, right year, right episode numbers)
  • Show/season/episode grouping is correct
  • Locked fields cover anything the providers would otherwise overwrite

If any of those are off, fix them first. Triage attention items walks the cleanup flow.
