MetaTana v1.1.4 completes the desktop startup and force-quit lifecycle repair.

• Keeps the packaged backend parent watchdog armed for the backend process lifetime, including after Next.js startServer finishes listening.
• Continues to probe the exact Electron parent PID, avoiding Node process.ppid caching after reparenting.
• Retains update-time runtime cleanup, strictly verified macOS orphan recovery, fatal startup-health handling, and fail-closed packaged smoke behavior from v1.1.2.
• An unconfounded local package launched through macOS LaunchServices reached health HTTP 200 and its backend exited 152 ms after the Electron parent was force-killed.

Signed desktop installers and updater metadata are published by the Electron Release workflow for this exact tag.

MetaTana v1.1.3

MetaTana v1.1.3 changed packaged parent detection from Node process.ppid to direct Electron-PID liveness and retained the v1.1.2 update/startup repairs.

Installed-artifact acceptance found that the packaged entrypoint stopped this watchdog immediately after Next.js startServer finished listening, so v1.1.3 is superseded by v1.1.4 and should not be treated as the final force-quit repair. Upgrade to v1.1.4.

Focused desktop startup reliability hotfix

MetaTana v1.1.2 is a focused desktop startup reliability hotfix.

On macOS, the updater could move the old app bundle while its embedded web runtime survived as an orphan. That process retained the runtime leases, so the replacement app remained on Starting local runtime until the user force-quit and retried.

Changes:

• Waits for embedded runtime cleanup before handing control to the desktop updater.
• Passes the Electron parent identity to packaged backends. The complete parent-liveness and watchdog-lifetime repair is in v1.1.4.
• Recovers only a strictly verified orphaned MetaTana backend on the next macOS launch.
• Stops failed backend children immediately when startup health returns a server error.
• Makes packaged smoke verification use an explicit isolated profile and fail closed on timeout.

The release keeps Docker and Linux package versions aligned at 1.1.2; there are no separate container feature changes in this patch. Upgrade to v1.1.4 for the complete force-quit lifecycle repair.

Focused Docker and Unraid reliability release

MetaTana v1.1.1 is a focused Docker and Unraid reliability release.

The v1.1.1 container image now lets MetaTana own graceful shutdown handling, ensuring runtime leases are removed before Node exits. This addresses premature shutdown behavior in v1.1.0 and means Docker and Unraid users no longer need to add NEXT_MANUAL_SIG_HANDLE=1 manually.

Changes:

• Bakes the corrected signal-handling configuration into the Docker image.
• Strengthens release testing for common Unraid setups: Bridge networking, PUID=99, PGID=100, persistent /app/data, read-only or read/write /media, clean stop/restart, container recreation, and runtime-lease cleanup.
• Verifies the live Docker and Unraid installation pages and rejects soft-404 documentation responses.
• Keeps desktop artifacts version-aligned at 1.1.1. This patch contains no separate desktop-specific feature changes.

Docker and Unraid users should pull and recreate ghcr.io/metatana/metatana-app:stable or use ghcr.io/metatana/metatana-app:1.1.1. Existing appdata and media mappings do not need to change. If you added NEXT_MANUAL_SIG_HANDLE=1 for v1.1.0, leaving it in place is harmless, but it is no longer required.

MetaTana v1.0.9

MetaTana v1.0.9 is a desktop shell patch release that ships the Settings → Account → "Upgrade to Pro" routing change so Free users from the desktop app land on the website pricing page with the new Monthly ($5/mo) / Annual ($50/yr — two months free) cycle toggle, plus the packaged-boot smoke fix that closed out the v1.0.8 attempt.

Changes:

• Settings → Account → "Upgrade to Pro" now opens https://metatana.com/pricing instead of /checkout, so the cycle toggle is the first thing Free users see; the chosen cycle is preserved through to the hosted Polar checkout via the ?cycle= query param.
• Packaged-boot smoke (scripts/verify-electron-packaged-smoke.mjs) treats tmpdir cleanup as best-effort. Windows holds file handles briefly after the packaged Electron child exits — notably SQLite via better-sqlite3 — so the unlink raced and threw EBUSY, which exited the smoke non-zero even though the binary itself booted cleanly. Cleanup is now wrapped in try/catch and logged as a non-fatal warning.
• Picks up the docs-screenshots Playwright capture additions and the v1.0.7 evidence-recording follow-ups that landed on main since v1.0.7 was tagged.

Verification:

• Local Node baseline: 24.16.0 on the release machine (workflows use 24.15.0).
• Main-branch CI on the prep commit 12003a8f6: app CI run 26350199038 and Docker Release run 26350199039 green.
• Tag-triggered builds on the v1.0.9 commit:
• Electron Release run 26350428801 built macOS, Linux x64, Linux ARM64, signed Windows x64, and signed Windows ARM64 artifacts and published the stable updater feed to Cloudflare R2.

The prior v1.0.8 tag at app commit d356e041c is preserved as a graveyard — no GitHub Release was ever created from it because the Electron Release workflow failed in the win-arm64 packaged-boot smoke teardown. v1.0.9 supersedes it; no installer artifacts went out under the v1.0.8 label and no users were affected.
