Skyhook

Skyhook is MetaTana's hosted metadata and AI layer for Pro workflows.

Pro only Skyhook features require a verified Pro account. Free users can add their own provider API keys for local metadata access; see API keys. The two paths can coexist.

It has two public jobs:

  1. Hosted metadata: provider search, details, and artwork, where the provider's terms allow hosted use.
  2. Hosted AI: AI Vision and AI metadata translation for hard identification and metadata cleanup cases.

Skyhook does not replace the local library database. It helps the local app get better metadata and identity suggestions while keeping local media management on the user's machine.

What Skyhook Does Not Do

Skyhook does not:

  • store full local media libraries
  • require uploading whole video files
  • expose hosted provider API keys to clients
  • act as a playback server
  • take ownership of your local files

Where It Appears

Skyhook-backed data can appear in:

  • scrape search and enrich flows
  • hosted metadata bundle results
  • artwork enrichment
  • AI Vision identity suggestions
  • AI metadata translation
  • which provider supplied a value, and external IDs

When Skyhook cannot serve a hosted request, the app continues with your own provider keys if you added them.
