These docs are for MetaTana 2.0, coming soon
Tasks
Each task is a short walkthrough for one job: when to use it, the steps, and what a good result looks like. They are grouped by the page where the job starts.
New to MetaTana? Start with one folder and review the first matches before turning on file changes. Preview bulk work, and make a backup before renaming, moving, or rewriting many files.
Library
- Filter and search your library: use type tabs, filters, search, and saved views to find titles quickly.
- Edit metadata on a movie: change fields in the editor and save reviewed values.
- Fix a wrong identity match: replace an incorrect title, year, episode, or provider ID.
- Rescrape a movie and review the changes: refresh provider data without replacing your own edits.
- Lock fields against future scrapes: keep the values you set when you rescrape.
- Manage a TV show: review show, season, and episode metadata from the show's page.
- Reorder episodes: preview and apply Aired, DVD, Absolute, or Official order.
- Curate show artwork: choose and lock show and season artwork.
- Work through metadata tasks: fix the same problem across many titles from Needs attention.
- Use AI Vision for hard files: identify a file from its frames when the file name isn't enough (Pro).
Inbox
- Triage what needs your attention: work through Home, the Inbox, and Needs attention.
- Find and resolve duplicates: decide which copy to keep and which goes to the trash.
Folders
- Add your first folder: add one folder, run a scan, and review the library it builds.
- Set up an Arrivals folder: watch an incoming folder and approve new media in the Inbox before it is filed.
- Migrate from tinyMediaManager: preview the folders and settings it brings over, keep your NFOs, then apply.
Sync
- Connect a media server: add Plex, Jellyfin, Kodi, or Emby, map paths, and run the first sync.
- Add Trakt: connect Trakt on Sync, then pull, push, or both (Pro).
Settings
- Set up the local API key: use the local API and MCP from your own scripts and agents (Pro).
Safety and recovery
- Back up your library: back up and restore the library database, write NFO files, and export your library.
- Move or restore a library: reconnect folders that moved, or restore a backup on another computer.
- Recover from a bad rename: undo a recent change or relink moved files by hand.
